The Park
A Living Prehistory, Ringed by Coral
Komodo National Park spans three major islands and dozens of smaller ones between Sumbawa and Flores, protecting both the last wild population of Komodo dragons and one of the most current-rich reef systems in Indonesia. UNESCO listed it a World Heritage Site for exactly this pairing — ancient savannah landscapes above the waterline, extraordinary marine biodiversity below it.
The islands themselves are as much the draw as what's beneath the surface: rose-hued sand at Pink Beach, the three-bay panorama from Padar's summit, and dragons moving unhurried across Rinca and Komodo Island. Divers come for manta cleaning stations and the current-swept walls of Batu Bolong. Non-divers find just as full a week — hiking, snorkelling, and anchorages that would be crowded anywhere else in the world.
Signature Sites
The Places That Define a Komodo Charter
A working shortlist — your itinerary will draw from these and beyond, shaped around your pace and interests.
Viewpoint
Padar Island
A short pre-dawn climb to a summit overlooking three distinct bays — the park's most photographed vantage point, best experienced before the day boats arrive.
Shoreline
Pink Beach
One of only a handful of pink-sand beaches on Earth, coloured by crushed red coral. Calm, shallow water makes it as good for swimming as for snorkelling.
Wildlife
Komodo Island
A guided trek with park rangers through dragon territory — the only place on Earth to see the species in the wild, at a respectful and safe distance.
Dive Site
Manta Point & Batu Bolong
Reliable manta cleaning stations and one of Indonesia's most decorated current dives — a wall dive thick with reef fish and pelagics.
Sandbar
Taka Makassar
A crescent of pure white sand adrift in open water, fringed by shallow reef — a natural stop for swimming, snorkelling, and the kind of aerial shot that needs no editing.
At Dusk
Kalong Island
Thousands of giant fruit bats lift off the mangroves at sunset and stream across the sky toward Flores — best watched from Otium's deck, cocktail in hand.

Komodo, Answered
Yes. All dragon encounters on Rinca and Komodo Island are guided by licensed park rangers who keep a safe, respectful distance and manage the route. It's a controlled trek, not an open encounter.
Not at all. Komodo's dive sites range from gentle, current-free reefs suited to beginners and snorkellers through to advanced drift dives like Batu Bolong. Your itinerary is matched to your group's experience level.
Very much so. Pink Beach, Padar's viewpoint, and the dragon treks are all non-diving highlights in their own right, and snorkelling covers much of what diving does for younger or non-diving guests.
You'll fly into Labuan Bajo, with regular connections from Jakarta, Bali, and Makassar. Otium's crew arranges your transfer from the airport straight to the yacht.
Otium operates Komodo from March through October, when conditions are calmest and visibility is strongest for diving and snorkelling.
Four to six nights is typical and covers the park's highlights comfortably, since sites sit close together. Longer charters allow a slower pace or a combined route with another destination.
